The budget smartphone maker company, Redmi officially announced their new budget flagship killer smartphones Redmi K20 & Redmi K20 Pro. The upcoming Redmi K20 phones are one of the most hyped up smartphones of the year 2019 because these phones portray what Redmi does offer great specifications at affordable prices.

The Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 pro smartphone were launched on 28th May 2019 in China. The Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro are already on sale in China and Redmi is prepping for the Indian launch. The India Launch of these phones is set on July 17th, Wednesday. As for the specification of the phones are concerned –

Redmi K20

The Redmi K20 comes with a 6.39-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1080×2340 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. It is powered by a 1.8GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 processor that features 6 cores clocked at 1.8GHz and 2 cores clocked at 2.2GHz. It comes with 6GB of RAM. It runs Android Pie and is powered by a 4,000mAh battery.

It supports proprietary fast charging. As far as the cameras are concerned, the Redmi K20 on the rear packs a triple camera setup with a 48-megapixel primary camera with an f/1.75 aperture and a pixel size of 1.6-micron; a second 8-megapixel camera with an f/2.4 aperture and a pixel size of 1.12-micron and a third 13-megapixel camera with an f/2.4 aperture and a pixel size of 1.12-micron. The rear camera setup has autofocus. It sports a 20-megapixel camera on the front for selfies.

The Redmi K20 runs MIUI 10 based on Android Pie and packs 64GB or 128GB of inbuilt storage. The Redmi K20 is a dual-SIM smartphone that accepts Nano-SIM cards. Connectivity options on the Redmi K20 include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth v5.00, NFC, Infrared, USB Type-C, 3G, and 4G (with support for Band 40 used by some LTE networks in India) with active 4G on both SIM cards. Sensors on the phone include accelerometer, ambient light sensor, compass/ magnetometer, gyroscope, proximity sensor, and fingerprint sensor.

It measures 156.70 x 74.30 x 8.80mm (height x width x thickness) and weighs 191.00 grams. It was launched in Carbon Black, Glacier Blue, and Flame Red colours. It bears a glass body. This phone is for people who are aiming at buying a smartphone at the price range of Rs.17,000 – Rs.22,000.

Redmi K20 pro

The Redmi K20 Pro is yet another ‘flagship killer’ by Xiaomi. Aimed at mid-range buyers who want something premium without causing a hole in their pockets. The phone has a 6.39-inch AMOLED full-HD+ display bearing 1080×2340 pixels resolution and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 alongside support for HDR and Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection. Under the hood, Qualcomm’s top-end Snapdragon 855 SoC powers the smartphone with 6GB or 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 64GB or 128GB or 256GB of UFS2.1 internal storage. The phone also boasts an optical In-display fingerprint sensor. It also allows further storage expansion up to 256GB via microSD card using a Hybrid Tray Mechanism. The Redmi K20 Pro runs MIUI 10 based on Android 9 Pie. 

Coming to the camera section, the Redmi K20 Pro has an AI-backed 48MP+13MP+8MP triple camera setup on the rear. On the front, the phone sports a 20MP pop-up selfie shooter. A 4,000mAh battery backs the Redmi K20 Pro with support for 27W fast charge and USB Type-C connectivity. Other connectivity options include dual-SIM, Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2.4Ghz & 5Ghz), Dual 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.0, A 3.5mm headphone jack, Dual-band dual-antenna GPS, and NFC.

The Redmi K20 Pro measures 156.70 x 74.30 x 8.80mm (Height x Width x Thickness) and Weighs 191.00 grams. It will be launched in Carbon Black, Glacier Blue, and Flame Red colours & bears a glass body. This phone is for people who are aiming at buying a smartphone at the price range of Rs.23,000 – Rs.35,000. 


New Redmi phones are always in popular demand and it is difficult to get a hold of a new unit soon after the launch. Redmi, however, wants to do things differently with the Redmi K20 phones. The smartphones will be launched in India on 17th July 2019 and will be made available on Flipkart as well as in The Redmi India confirmed the launch date on its Twitter handle with the hashtag ‘Believe the Hype’. 

The company has actually heard the end user and have introduced a sale called the ‘Alpha Sale’. If you want to experience the Redmi’s first K20 Flagship Smartphone before anyone else, then ‘Alpha Sale’ of Redmi K20 Pro has started on 12th July 2019 from 12PM on Flipkart & Mi Store for Pre-booking the smartphone. Xiaomi has announced this pre-launch Alpha Sale for potential buyers of the Redmi K20 & Redmi K20 pro, giving them an opportunity to reserve a unit ahead of the first sale after 17 July 2019. The company has confirmed pre-launch Alpha Sale for the Redmi K20 series will begin on 12th July 2019 at 12pm on Flipkart and 

It will enable users to reserve a unit per account before the actual sale after the July 17 unveiling, by paying a nominal amount of Rs 855. The company is yet to reveal the India pricing of the two phones, so the consumers will essentially be going in blind into the pre-bookings. This will ensure that these users will be guaranteed a Redmi K20 or Redmi K20 Pro purchase during the first sale. Details of the first sale will be announced at the launch event. This Alpha Sale will start from 12pm (noon) IST on July 12 via Flipkart and both. The coupon generated through this sale can be redeemed in the first sale for an assured unit purchase. If not redeemed, this amount will be refunded back to the respective account, while Flipkart users will be able to use the coupon for any other purchase on the platform. The Redmi K20, Redmi K20 Pro Alpha Sale will allow confirmed buyers to purchase the phone without the bearing the hassle and uncertainty of flash sales.
